2020 Vinton Lutheran Home Ice Cream Social What: The Lutheran Home’s Annual FUNdraiser done a little differently this year. We will do a drive thru version including: Pulled Pork and Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches, Pasta Salad, Cottage Cheese, and of course Homemade Pie, and ice cream! Those looking for help and resources are invited to the Benton County Assistance Fair on Tuesday, September 22, from 3-7 pm, hosted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach at the Benton County Fairgrounds, 1801 2nd Ave, Vinton, IA 52349. “The ISU Extension Council recognized there’s a need for our community to come together and learn about the many resources available to help them.

Taco ‘bout delicious!

Make sure to stop by Happy Time parking lot next Tuesday, September 8th for a to-go dinner.  Cost us $10 plus tax. Kacena will be here serving their delicious street tacos with cilantro, lime rice and beans from 4-6 pm in the front of the building.  There will be a donation jar and proceeds will go towards educational materials for the classrooms.

AMVETS to grill at Theisen's on Labor Day Weekend

The AMVETS will have their food trailer up and running and will be cooking at Theisen's on September 4th-7th, Friday through Monday, Labor Day weekend.The group will begin grilling at 10:00 a.m.until 6:00 pm. This is going to be the fundraiser for the Scholarship Program in our area.  As always, it is free will donation.   The menu includes soda, chips, and sandwich – hamburger, brat, or hot dog.

CENTER POINT HISTORICAL SOCIETY CEMETERY WALK CANCELED

The Center Point Historical Society has canceled its annual Cemetery Walk, initially planned for September 20, because of the increase of local COVID 19 infections. The Historical Society is sorry for the inconvenience this cancelation has caused. The planned program is postponed until the fall of 2021.

Lions Club holds Tenderloin Tuesday on September 1st & 8th

The Vinton Lions Club will hold their Tenderloin Tuesday on September 1st & 8th at the Celebration Park from 5-7:00 p.m.The Lions will also be serving Sno-Cones, Funnel Cakes, Potato Coins and Hot Dogs.Come on out and bring the kids!

Trinity Lutheran Church to serve Drive-Thru Lunch on Thursday 9/3

Trinity Lutheran Church will be serving drive thru lunches starting Thursday, September 3rd, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Enter the church parking lot from 13th Street and go to the kitchen door on the south side.  This week's menu will be a barbecue beef sandwiches, potato cake, cookies, and drink for $8.00.

Boomfest will be this Saturday, August 29

Saturday August 29th, Vinton's Annual Boomfest will be held in downtown Vinton. The Annual Boomfest event will be held this Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. downtown Vinton on 4th Street.Included in the vendor lineup will be Arts and Crafts, Antiques, Artists, Informational Booths and Food Vendors will be present including the Vinton Lions Club, The Salty Hog & Summer Kitchen. Scratch Cupcakery will be located on the corner of 4th St.

Vinton Public Library to offer After School Program

The Vinton Public Library is offering an after school program for any school aged child who might need to spend more than 15 minutes while waiting for a ride home. The program will be available Monday-Friday during 'in person" school sessions.Registration is required but it is FREE to participate.The Library will provide a fun and safe environment for your children after their school day.
